At Pezesha, we believe that financial education is the cornerstone of economic empowerment and business success. This June, we proudly launched our comprehensive Financial Education Training Program, with a dedicated focus on empowering SMEs through enhanced financial literacy.
Our inaugural event was a nationwide webinar, bringing together SMEs from every corner of the country. The virtual format allowed us to reach a broad audience, providing invaluable insights into credit scoring and effective financial management. During the session, participants learned practical strategies for maintaining and growing their credit scores, essential for accessing credit and achieving long-term financial stability.
The response to our webinar was overwhelmingly positive. Many SMEs have already reported improvements in their credit scores, attributing their success to the actionable advice and knowledge gained during the training. This feedback underscores the immediate impact of our educational initiatives and reinforces our commitment to making financial education accessible to all.
Earlier in the month, we kicked off our program with an on-the-ground training session in West Pokot in partnership with E4Impact. This physical clinic was part of our ongoing efforts to reach SMEs in marginalized areas, ensuring they are not left behind in the journey toward financial inclusion. Our team provided hands-on training to local business owners, focusing on the fundamentals of credit scoring and the importance of maintaining accurate financial records. Out of the 55 SMEs in attendance, 36 were women, reflecting our commitment to empowering female entrepreneurs.
These clinics are designed to equip SMEs with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their finances effectively and make informed business decisions. By addressing the unique challenges faced by businesses in these regions, we aim to create a ripple effect of financial empowerment that extends far beyond the immediate participants.
At Pezesha, we are particularly committed to empowering women SMEs, granting them the financial access they deserve. As Susan Situma, Director of Programs at Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF), aptly stated, "Women only access 40% of what men can raise, which reveals a huge gap in financing for the women." Our training programs aim to bridge this gap by providing women with the tools and knowledge to enhance their financial stability and business success.
In the month of June alone, Pezesha has trained more than 300 SMEs through our various educational initiatives. This impressive number reflects our dedication to fostering a financially literate and empowered SME sector. Our continuous efforts are geared towards ensuring that all SMEs, regardless of their location or background, have access to the financial education they need to thrive.
Looking Ahead: Monthly Financial Education Programs
Building on the success of our June initiatives, we are excited to announce that our Financial Education Training Program will become a monthly feature. Each month, we will continue to host webinars and physical clinics, expanding our reach and deepening our impact. Our goal is to foster a community of well-informed, financially savvy entrepreneurs who can navigate the complexities of credit scoring and access the financial tools they need to thrive.
By consistently offering these educational opportunities, Pezesha is committed to helping SMEs achieve financial freedom and contribute to the broader economic development of their communities.
Join us on this journey towards financial empowerment. Together, we can transform the financial landscape for SMEs across Kenya and beyond.
